DCA's programme in Ukraine focuses on various humanitarian activities, including humanitarian mine action.
About the job
The HMA Deminer position is to conduct explosive hazard search activities under the control and supervision of the Technical Adviser (TA), or Team Leader (TL) in Ukraine.
HMA Deminer must comply fully, at all time, with the DCA Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for MMC Search and Clearance as instructed and detailed in the DCA Ukraine SOPs.
Specific duties and responsibilities:
- The HMA Deminer is to conduct Search procedures relevant to Open area, Semi-urban and Urban area according to the training received with DCA Ukraine be prepared to relocate, at short notice, to clearance sites that assume, for whatever reason, a higher priority.
- Comply fully, always, with the DCA SOP for Search activities as instructed and detailed in the DCA Ukraine SOPs.
- Be prepared to either carry out, or assist with, the setting out and marking of the site to be cleared as well as the control point and administration area for each site.
- Under supervision of the TA, SA or TL assist in the transportation, storage, and demolition of explosive hazards after sufficient training is provided.
- Assist TA/TL in pre- and post- task checks, seek continuous improvement and performance optimization throughout employment period.
- Be a role model for diversity and inclusion, as well as a positive role model for contributing to the team spirit
- As a representative of DCA, maintain a professional conduct at all time
- Maintain threat awareness and situational awareness at all time
- Maintain and manage personal equipment
- Prepare all relevant equipment for the team/TA pre-task
Requirements:
- complete general secondary and vocational education;
- previously trained and worked as a deminer for a humanitarian demining organisation
- proficiency in information processing methods using modern means of communication;
- good communication skills (verbal and written).
- ability to perform tasks promptly and conscientiously and strictly adhere to mine action standards
